What is Laminate?

Laminate is a resilient flooring designed to look just like hardwood or stone, but with a long-lasting durability that makes it ideal for the busiest homes, or main street businesses. It's made up of four distinct layers, which work together to withstand the everyday challenges of active families, businesses and heavy foot traffic, so your floors look newer longer.

  1. Wear Layer – is a hardened wear layer that protects the floor from scratches, surface spills, stains and fading.
  2. Design Layer – Crystal clear visuals closely mimic hardwood or natural stone.
  3. Inner Core – provides stability, durability, moisture resistance and sound absorption.
  4. Backing – Creates a balancing layer that protects the floor from warping.

Style & Design Features

This is the fun part: choosing a design that fits perfectly with the creative vision you have. We make it easy with lots of stylish options. Here are a few of the key looks and design features you'll encounter as you begin to browse the laminate flooring options.

Realistic Hardwood, Stone and Custom Looks

We've got every laminate style with a high attention to detail and authenticity. Color variations, distinctive grain, textures, edge treatments and gloss are selected to reflect the true beauty of the natural material that inspired the design.

  • Hardwood looks range from traditional smooth styles and exotic patterned species to weathered, rustic, hand-scraped and reclaimed textured timber. Choose from a wide range of colors with high sheen and matte gloss options.
  • Stone looks capture the rugged but refined texture of natural slate tiles, the gorgeous color variation of Spanish stone pavers or the smooth elegance of tumbled stone blocks. Available in a variety of colors.
  • Custom designer looks embrace the unexpected, blending woods, metals and weathered concrete to create unique styles you won't find in nature, but that look naturally beautiful.
  • Laminate with authentic texture through many types of embossing techniques to create surface textures that perfectly complement each design.
  • Embossed-in-Register (EIR) – Elevates the realism by aligning the design image with the texture. Examples include knots, chatter marks, wood grain and tile grout lines.
  • Overall Texture (OT) – Texture is applied over the entire surface to enhance the design, but the texture does not align to the design image.
  • Hand-Scraped Texture (HST) – Consists of a soft to heavy hand-scraped wood effect, often with chatter marks, depending on the design.

Laminate Sizing

Most wood look planks are at least 4" wide, with many available in on-trend extra wide-widths over 7" or mixed-width styles. Stone-look tiles range between 12" and 15", though you can find some looks with multiple sizes and shapes that are randomly placed.

Laminate Flooring Advantages

Laminate flooring has become a favorite in many homes. Laminate flooring is a durable option to the typical hardwood floors found in most homes and is a viable, great looking and more affordable alternative to other flooring materials. We carry only the highest quality laminate flooring available on the market today, to ensure satisfaction of our clients.

Durability & Performance

Scratch, stain and dent resistance. Most of our laminate products feature a hardened surface that helps protect against scratches, surface spills, stains, fading, scrapes and wear — and makes cleaning stress free. Since this layer is also rigid, it offers some level of impact resistance so denting is less likely on laminate than on other floors. Laminate does very well in high-traffic areas such as doorways, hallways and kitchens. The laminate flooring comes in a number of different thicknesses, each suitable to a range of applications, from residential, to high traffic commercial projects.

Matching Trims and Moldings

We can create a perfectly finished look with smooth edges and transitions with trims and moldings. We offer exact 1:1 matches of every laminate style and color available. Choose from T molding, flush stair nose, overlay stair nose, quarter round and multi-purpose reducer/threshold. Sounds like a lot but don’t worry our staff will make choosing a breeze!

We are also expert laminate flooring installers at competitive prices. The laminate flooring we sell offers the look of hardwood, and excellent protection from stains, fading and wear that typical hardwood flooring is associated with. In most cases, laminate flooring is more affordable than hardwood flooring. There are two methods of installations available: floating or click systems.

Tips on Laminate Floor Cleaning & Care

  • Clean your laminate floor using a microfiber or terry cloth mop and a hardwood and laminate floor cleaner.
  • For best results, spray cleaner directly onto the bottom of the mop cover.
  • Sweep or vacuum regularly using the wand attachment on your vacuum cleaner. DO NOT use the beater bar on your vacuum, or it could damage the floor.
  • Use floor protectors on furniture to reduce indentation. The heavier the item, the wider the floor protector needed.
  • Place a natural or colorfast mat at outside entrances to reduce the amount of dirt and moisture brought into your home.
